Opened in 1954 and designed by Morris Lapidus, it was and still is, one of the most luxurious hotels on Miami beach. Famous for it’s architecture, location and size, Hotel Fontainebleau has luxurious rooms, fantastic pools, floral gardens and best of all, Miami beach is on its doorstep.
The 1504 room resort has an iMac in every single room where guests can surf the internet, make spa appointments, order room service and more (making the hotel eco-friendly and paper free!) More than 2000 staff are employed at the Hotel Fontainebleau for your assistance.
One of the more flashier hotels, it has amassed a coveted art collection displayed throughout the resort featuring renowned pieces from established artists such as James Turrell and Ai WeiWei. Each Chandelier in the hotel lobby is worth $1 million. There are three of them. This hotel doesn’t just have luxurious modern rooms and expensive chandeliers. If you venture outside, the resort offers a 6,500 square foot pool, six acres of formal gardens and a world class Spa which includes a gym and a salon.
Don’t want to venture outside for food? Not a problem. Hotel Fontainebleau has luxurious fine dining including a Michelin Star Cantonese, a Strip Steak and a well-known Italian restaurant. As part of the food and beverage program at Fontainebleau, the resort has a Water World consisting of eight 200-galon aquariums where all the live seafood is kept, all of which are looked after by marine biologists. The Hotel also creates fresh patisserie daily and employs its own Pastry Chef, Chocolate Artist and Bread Artisan and Fontainebleau has the largest butchery in Florida and has its own charcuterie.
The hotel offers four unique bars and clubs to hotel goers. You can drink inside the hotel or by the pool with several bars across the resort. There is also the nightlife with world renowned DJ’s and famous faces playing and being spotted within the clubs. The BleauLive hosts and has hosted some of the world’s most iconic faces, from Elvis Presley to Lady Gaga, artists such as J-Lo, Pitbull, Justin Bieber, Frank Sinatra and Maroon 5 have all performed at the hotel.
The Hotel has a rich film history too with several huge Hollywood movies being filmed at the Fontainebleau. The famous Bond film, Gold finger, starring Sean Connery and Christopher Lee was filmed there as was Al Pacino’s Scarface and The Bodyguard starring Whitney Houston and Kevin Costner.
Frank Sinatra held a ‘Welcome Back Elvis’ party for Rock and roll legend Elvis Presley when he returned from service in Germany. Other famous faces of the time such as Bob Hope, Judy Garland and Dean Martin all stayed and partied at the Hotel. Famous faces are still seen at the Hotel today with the Kardashian sisters, Kate Hudson, and Gwyneth Paltrow all have been spotted in recent years.
